What is Sync in Comet?

Sync keeps your browsing data consistent across devices running Comet.
It securely syncs bookmarks, passwords, autofill, themes, history, extensions, and open tabs — all encrypted with a private passphrase only you control.

Your Perplexity account provides login, but only your passphrase can decrypt your data.

How to enable Sync

  1. Sign in with your Perplexity account

  2. Open Settings → Sync or Profile menu → Sync

  3. Choose:

    • Create Sync — start a new encrypted sync chain

    • Join Sync — enter the passphrase from another device

You can have one sync chain per account, with multiple devices connected.

Pairing devices

When you start Sync, Comet generates a secure 4-word passphrase.

  • Create Sync — you receive the passphrase to start the chain

  • Join Sync — enter the passphrase from a synced device

Keep the passphrase safe. Without it, you cannot restore access if you sign out.

Managing devices

In Settings → Sync, you can:

  • View connected devices

  • See device name, OS, and last active time

  • Add or remove a device

  • Leave or delete your sync chain

Synced data

Comet can sync the following data types (as shown in Settings):

  • Bookmarks

  • Passwords

  • Autofill

  • Themes

  • History

  • Extensions

  • Tabs

You can toggle each item individually.
Turning an item off stops syncing new updates but keeps your local data.

Tabs on other devices

Comet provides access to tabs opened on your other devices.

To access them, open:

Menu → Tabs on other devices

From there, you can view open tabs from all your synced devices and open them instantly on the current device

This makes it easy to continue work across devices without losing context.
