Password Manager in Comet

Comet’s built-in Password Manager helps you securely save, view, and fill in your website credentials — all stored locally on your device.

How it works

  • Passwords are encrypted and saved inside your operating system’s secure vault
(Keychain on macOS or Credential Manager on Windows).

  • Comet never uploads or shares your saved passwords.

  • Autofill works automatically when you visit a site you’ve saved credentials for.

Key features

  • Save and autofill passwords: Easily store login information for the websites you use.

  • Add or edit passwords manually: Go to comet://password-manager/passwords and click Add.

  • Local encryption: Your passwords stay protected by your system’s security (Touch ID, Face ID, Windows Hello, or system password).

  • No sync required: Everything is stored only on your current device for maximum privacy.

How to use the Password Manager

  1. When signing up or logging into a site, Comet will offer to save your password.

  2. To view or manage saved logins, open:
Settings → Autofill and passwords → Password Manager
    or visit comet://password-manager/passwords.

  3. Use Search to quickly find accounts or update credentials.

  4. Click Add to manually create a new entry.

Tips for better password security

  • Use unique, strong passwords for every site.

  • Review and remove credentials you no longer use.

  • Keep your device’s login protected by a strong password or biometrics.

  • If you use multiple devices, export and import passwords manually when needed.
