Data retention

How long we keep your data, and what gets deleted automatically vs. on request.

Note: The seven-day deletion policy applies to uploaded files only. The session containing those files is not deleted unless you request it.

Model training and third parties

Enterprise data is never used to train or fine-tune Perplexity’s models, and our agreements with third-party AI providers prohibit them from training on your data.

Data collection and compliance

What we collect, why, and how we comply with major privacy frameworks.

Admin controls for Enterprise organizations

If you’re an administrator, you can manage file, sharing, and connector permissions for your entire org from the admin control panel.

Data Retention (including Enforce Incognito Mode), AI Model & Provider Settings, and Audit Log Settings live in a dedicated Data and privacy section under Organization Settings. AI Model & Provider Settings are configured directly in that section. These articles cover the other controls:

  • Enterprise roles and permissions — base and custom roles, groups, the full permissions reference (Files, Sharing, Connectors, Security, Products), and the organization-wide public-sharing and connector-availability controls

  • Data Retention for Enterprise — session retention windows and Enforce Incognito Mode, configured under Data and privacy

  • Audit Logs — webhook-based audit logging, configured under Data and privacy > Audit Log Settings

  • Incognito Mode Troubleshooting — for orgs enforcing Incognito Mode
