How to Set Comet as Your Default Browser

Setting Comet as your default browser means any link you open—from an email, document, or another app—will automatically launch in Comet.
It’s the easiest way to make sure all links open with Comet’s intelligent features by default.

Set Comet as default (from within Comet)

You can set Comet as your default browser from several places inside the app:

  1. Menu bar (macOS):
Click Comet → Set as Default Browser in the top system menu.

  2. Main app menu:
Click the Comet icon (⋮) in the top-right corner → Set Comet as your default browser.

  3. In-app banner:
If you see a blue banner saying Set Comet as default, click it.

  4. Settings page:
Go to Settings → Default browser.
You’ll see the option Make Comet your default browser and a button Set default.

After choosing any of these options, your operating system will display a confirmation prompt:

  • On macOS, a system dialog will appear asking if you want to switch your default browser — click Use “Comet”to confirm.

  • On Windows, the system Default apps settings page for Comet will open automatically — click Set default to finish.

Set Comet as default (from system settings)

macOS

  1. Open System Settings → Desktop & Dock

  2. Scroll to Default web browser

  3. Select Comet from the dropdown list

Windows

  1. Open Settings → Apps → Default Apps

  2. Search for Comet

  3. Choose Set default for web links and file types

Changing it later

You can change your default browser anytime — either from Comet → Settings → Default browser, or through your system preferences.
