Comet Browser Accessibility FAQ
Comet Browser is built on Chromium, so it inherits many of the accessibility features available in Chrome. However, not all features are supported. Below you’ll find an overview of what’s available and what’s not, to help set clear expectations for users.
What accessibility features does Comet Browser support?
Comet Browser supports several core Chromium-based accessibility features, including:
Compatibility with external screen readers (e.g., TalkBack alternatives)
Adjustable text size, image size, and zoom controls
Chrome keyboard shortcuts for easier navigation
The ability to use tab groups with the keyboard
Support for third-party accessibility extensions through the Chrome Web Store
Highlighting of focused webpage sections
Management of captions and translations for supported content
Which accessibility features are NOT currently supported in Comet?
While Comet aims to deliver an inclusive experience, the following Chromium accessibility features are not currently available:
Image Descriptions: Automatic alternate text/image descriptions are not offered yet.
Live Captions: Real-time captioning for audio and video content is not available.
Chrome Actions: Built-in Chrome Actions, such as quick-search actions from the address bar, are not supported.
Listen to This Page: The “Listen page” (read-aloud) feature is not integrated.
Reading Mode (in the side panel): A simplified reading view is not available.
TalkBack (Native integration): Dedicated TalkBack screen reader support is not yet implemented—users should use compatible third-party solutions instead.
Important Note:
Extensions that attempt to change the browser’s default starting page are not supported by Comet Browser. While most accessibility extensions function as expected, this specific customization will not be applied.
Can I use Chrome extensions to enhance accessibility in Comet?
Yes, since Comet is Chromium-based, most accessibility Chrome extensions from the Chrome Web Store should work as expected—subject to the same limitations above.

What about future accessibility support in Comet?
We recognize the rapid advancements in Chromium accessibility, including features powered by AI such as image descriptions, improved live captions, OCR for scanned PDFs, and richer screen reader interactions. Comet’s development team is actively exploring ways to bring more of these capabilities to our browser in future updates.
