Computer Connects to 20+ New Licensed Finance Data Sources

Perplexity Computer connects to new licensed finance data sources, including D&B, Guidepoint, IBISWorld, and 20+ others.

A finance professional works at a computer in a dimly lit office.

Hedge funds, private equity firms, and other finance companies subscribe to 30+ data sets on average to find the intelligence that produces alpha. Turning that data into a memo or diligence pack has often meant toggling between a lot of different tools.

Since we launched Perplexity Computer in February, finance teams have been using the agent platform as one research surface where they can query their data sources in plain language. Today we’re announcing that Computer connects to new licensed data sources, including Dun & Bradstreet, Guidepoint, IBISWorld, and 20+ others.

An analyst can ask Computer a question and get an answer built from the firm's own licensed sources without APIs or separate logins to work through. Every figure traces to the source record it came from. Teams doing high-stakes work know exactly which data set produced which number.

Data that’s already paid for

Using Computer with licensed data connectors helps streamline the research process but also makes Computer’s answers more accurate. Computer reconstructs fewer answers from the open web when it can access more of a firm's licensed and internal context.

Finance customers can connect Computer to licenses they already hold with:

  • Dun & Bradstreet: The verified commercial identity foundation covering 650M+ global entities, enabling AI to operate on accurate, validated data. Using the D-U-N-S Number business identifier, the D&B Commercial Graph structures and connects business identity, hierarchies, payment behaviour, and financial stress scores consistently across systems. Look up a private company's credit file, resolve a counterparty to its parent entity, and pull risk scores across a portfolio.
  • Guidepoint: The expert network’s compliance-reviewed library holds 120,000+ transcripts of interviews with operators, executives, and channel participants across every sector. Search primary-source expert commentary, pull what practitioners said about a company or market, and pressure-test a thesis against human evidence.
  • IBISWorld: The leading provider of industry data and analytics offers benchmarks and trends across thousands of industries. Pull analyst-verified research on market trends, industry performance, competitive landscapes, and key economic drivers to help banks, consulting firms, and corporations make smarter decisions.

The full list of connectors below covers public equities, private markets, portfolio monitoring, and credit research.

Computer in the inbox

Computer is most useful where the work already happens. A lot of finance work happens over email. Investors iterate on models through attachments. General partners send LPs as PDFs.

Last week we announced Computer in Email, which lets users start any Computer task from email and receive the output in the same thread.

A private equity associate can forward a CIM and data room thread to Computer with instructions to build a first-pass LBO model, and gets an Excel file back in reply.

When licensed data is connected, email requests for models, comp sets, and portfolio updates come back with that data incorporated.

Licensed data use cases

Perplexity Computer is used by different types of companies in the finance industry. Here are some examples of what finance teams can do after connecting licensed data to Computer:

  • A hedge fund analyst asks Computer to reconcile what Guidepoint experts said about end-market demand against the company's own segment disclosures, and to surface only the points where the two diverge.
  • A private equity associate has Computer size a roll-up opportunity by joining IBISWorld industry growth forecasts to D&B records for every independent operator in the target's five metro markets.
  • An investor relations lead asks Computer to check a portfolio company's margin claims against IBISWorld cost-structure benchmarks for its NAICS code before the numbers go into an LP update.
  • A restructuring team has Computer map a distressed borrower's full corporate hierarchy from D&B, then read Guidepoint interviews with former employees for context on which subsidiaries actually generate cash.
  • A growth equity investor asks Computer to build a market map from IBISWorld specialised industry reports and enrich every company on it with D&B firmographics and payment behaviour.
