Comet Terms of Service

Welcome to the Comet Terms of Service (“Browser Terms”) for the Comet Browser (“Comet”) offered by Perplexity AI, Inc. (“we,” “us,” “our”) By installing the software for Comet (the “Software”) and/or by using Comet, you agree to these Browser Terms. The Perplexity Terms of Service located here: https://perplexity.coolkeypoint.com/hub/legal/terms-of-service (the “General Terms”), are incorporated into these Browser Terms by reference, except as modified by these Browser Terms. References to the “Services” in the General Terms shall include Comet (and the Software) for purposes of these Browser Terms. “You” and “your” means you as the user of Comet.
These Browser Terms do not cover use of the Perplexity websites (www.perplexity.ai and https://perplexity.coolkeypoint.com/__p/labs.perplexity.ai) or any information collected to create and maintain your Perplexity account, including when you access our websites or your Perplexity account using Comet. These Browser Terms also do not cover the use of the Perplexity API or Enterprise Pro, which are governed by the applicable Terms and Conditions that you agree to when signing up for these products.
CHANGES TO THESE BROWSER TERMS
We may modify these Browser Terms from time to time, in which case we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of these Browser Terms. If we make material changes to these Browser Terms, we will use reasonable efforts to notify you and will take additional steps as required by applicable law. However, it is your sole responsibility to review these Browser Terms from time to time to view any such changes. The update Browser Terms will be effective as of the time of posting, or such later date as may be specified in the updated Browser Terms. Your continued access or use of Comet and its Software after the modifications become effective will be deemed your acceptance of the modified Browser Terms. If you do not agree to any updates to these Browser Terms, please do not continue using Comet.
INSTALLATION AND USE RIGHTS
The Software is licensed to you, not sold. We grant you a personal, non-assignable, non-sublicensable, non-transferable and non-exclusive license to install and run one instance of the Software on each of your devices so long as you comply with the terms and restrictions contained in these Browser Terms. The foregoing license automatically terminates if we terminate your right to use Comet.You may not, and you agree not to or enable others to, copy (except as permitted by these Browser Terms), decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble, attempt to derive the source code of, decrypt, modify or create derivative works of the Software (except as and only to the extent any foregoing restriction is prohibited by applicable law or by licensing terms governing use of open-source components that may be included in the Software). You may not rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute or sublicense the Software.
SOFTWARE UPDATES
The Software may periodically check for updates and download and install them for you. By using Comet, you agree to receive these types of automatic updates without any additional notice.] These Browser Terms will govern any Software updates unless such update is accompanied by a separate license.
THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE
Certain components of the Software are available under open source software licenses or other third party licenses, as identified here: comet://credits/. These Browser Terms do not apply to any such third party software to the extent they are inconsistent with the relevant third party licenses.
PRIVACY NOTICE
Notwithstanding any reference to a separate privacy policy in the General Terms, the Privacy Notice located at https://perplexity.coolkeypoint.com/hub/legal/comet-privacy-notice describes how we handle information collected about you when you use Comet.
CONNECTIONS WITH THIRD PARTY SERVICES
As part of an enhanced browser experience, Comet may collect data from, and exchange data with, third party websites, applications and services (collectively, “Third Party Services”) in order to act as your virtual agent in fulfilling requests and queries you make within the browser. You may also be permitted to connect your accounts for Third Party Services with Comet to facilitate the foregoing interaction and functionality. You acknowledge and agree that by using Comet you permit a virtual agent to act on your behalf in conducting activities on or via these Third Party Services based on the direction you provide via Comet. We do not warrant any Third Party Services, whether or not such Third Party Services are designated by us as “certified,” “validated,” “supported” or otherwise. We may terminate the connections and any other coordination between any Third Party Service and Comet at any time and for any reason, including changes in interoperability requirements, policies or fees charged by such third party provider. Any exchange of data or other interaction between you and a third party provider and any purchase or use by you of any Third Party Service, is solely between you and such third party provider, and we will have no liability or obligation with respect to such exchange or interaction.
