# Troubleshooting plugins

> Fix plugin connection, access, skill, and upload problems in Perplexity Computer, and learn why removing a plugin leaves its connectors connected.

If a plugin you installed is not behaving as expected, this article covers the most common causes and the fix for each. For connector sign-in and permission problems, see [Troubleshooting connectors](https://www.perplexity.ai/help-center/help-center/en/articles/2026091802-troubleshooting-connectors.md). For how plugins, connectors, and skills relate to each other, see [What are plugins?](https://www.perplexity.ai/help-center/help-center/en/articles/2026100701-what-are-plugins.md)

> [!NOTE]
>
> If your organization hasn't turned on Plugins yet, keep using **Customize → Connectors** and **Skills**. Everything there works as before.

## Quick checks (try these first)

**1. Connect every connector**

On the **Installed** tab, select **Reconnect** next to any connector that needs it. For connectors you haven't connected yet, open the plugin and select **Connect**.

**2. Confirm the skill is enabled**

On the **Installed** tab, switch to **Skills** and confirm the skill's **Enabled** switch is on. For skills that came with a plugin, open the plugin instead.

**3. Reload**

Reload Perplexity or restart the desktop or mobile app so the Plugins page re-reads your installs and connections.

## The plugin is installed but shows Connect next to a connector

Installing a plugin installs its skills, but each connector still has to be connected with your own account. If the plugin has several connectors, none of them connect automatically.

**1. Open the plugin from the Installed tab**

**2. Select Connect next to each connector that is not yet connected**

Sign in to the external tool and approve the requested permissions.

**3. Return to the plugin page**

Each connector should now show **Connected**.

Perplexity Computer can use the plugin's skills and any connected connectors in the meantime; only the unconnected connectors are unavailable.

## The Installed tab shows a warning dot

A connector you connected earlier needs to be reconnected, usually because its sign-in expired or you changed your password with that provider. Find the connector on the **Installed** tab and select **Reconnect**. Reconnecting once fixes the connector everywhere it is used, including inside every plugin.

## A connector shows Disabled by your organization, Unavailable, or Upgrade required

These states cannot be fixed from the plugin. The plugin stays installed and its other skills and connectors keep working.

<ul>
  <li>
    **Disabled by your organization:** your organization's administrator has turned this connector off. Ask your admin to enable it on **Organization settings → Connectors**.
  </li>

  <li>
    **Unavailable:** the connector is not available to your account, usually because your role does not have access. Ask your admin to add one of your roles to the connector's access list. See [Role-based access control for connectors](https://www.perplexity.ai/help-center/help-center/en/articles/2026100201-role-based-access-control-for-connectors.md).
  </li>

  <li>
    **Upgrade required:** your plan does not include this connector. See [Which Perplexity Subscription Plan is right for you?](https://www.perplexity.ai/help-center/help-center/en/articles/11187416-which-perplexity-subscription-plan-is-right-for-you.md)
  </li>
</ul>

## A skill from a plugin stopped working

Skills that come with a plugin are managed from the plugin's page, not from the **Installed** tab's Skills list. Open the plugin and check that the skill's **Enabled** switch is on. A disabled skill stays in the plugin, but Computer does not use it. To remove a plugin's skills, uninstall the plugin.

Skills and plugins that include skills require a plan with [Perplexity Computer](https://www.perplexity.ai/help-center/help-center/en/articles/13837784-what-is-computer.md).

When you select a plugin with **/**, only its enabled skills load. Turn the skill's **Enabled** switch back on to include it.

## I cannot find a plugin, connector, or skill

<ul>
  <li>
    Search works across all tabs. Try searching for the tool's name rather than the plugin's name.
  </li>

  <li>
    If a connector appears dimmed with a lock icon, your organization has disabled it or your role doesn't have access. Hover over it to see why, and ask your administrator for access. Items your organization has shared are on the **Organization** tab.
  </li>

  <li>
    Old links to the Connectors or Skills pages redirect to the Plugins page. If a saved link opens the wrong item, search for it on the Plugins page and update your bookmark. See [Where did Connectors and Skills go?](https://www.perplexity.ai/help-center/help-center/en/articles/2026100703-where-did-connectors-and-skills-go.md)
  </li>
</ul>

## I don't see the Plugins page

Plugins is available on individual plans and Self-Serve Enterprise organizations. On sales-assisted Enterprise plans, Plugins is in beta for a short period before rolling out to all organizations: an administrator turns it on for the whole organization or for selected roles. If you belong to a sales-assisted Enterprise organization and still see **Customize → Connectors** and **Skills**, Plugins isn't turned on for your role yet. Ask your administrator. They can turn it on under **Organization settings → Plugins and skills → Access** (see [Manage plugins for your organization](https://www.perplexity.ai/help-center/help-center/en/articles/2026100801-manage-plugins-for-your-organization.md)).

## My plugin upload was rejected or is missing connectors

<ul>
  <li>
    **Rejected:** make sure the manifest includes a name and that `plugin.json` is at the root of the `.zip` or in the Claude Code or Codex location (`.claude-plugin/plugin.json` or `.codex-plugin/plugin.json`). A plugin description is optional; if provided, it must be a string of up to 1,024 UTF-8 bytes. Check that the package is within the limits of 32 skills, 1,000 files, and 20 MB uncompressed.
  </li>

  <li>
    **Missing connectors:** MCP servers are read from `mcp.json` (or `.mcp.json`), not from `plugin.json`. The upload still succeeds when it skips any MCP servers beyond the limit of 15, local `stdio` servers, servers without a `type`, servers that need fixed headers, and server URLs with unresolved placeholders. Only remote servers with an HTTPS address and a `type` of `streamable-http`, `http`, or `sse` are imported.
  </li>

  <li>
    **Upload is grayed out:** if **Upload plugin or skill** or **Import plugin from GitHub** is grayed out under **Add custom**, your role doesn't have **Upload or create personal plugins and skills**. Ask your administrator to turn it on for your role in **Roles & Permissions**.
  </li>
</ul>

See [Create or upload a custom plugin](https://www.perplexity.ai/help-center/help-center/en/articles/2026100802-create-or-upload-a-custom-plugin.md) for the full requirements.

## Removing a plugin did not disconnect a connector

This is expected. Uninstalling a plugin removes the plugin and its skills. Other plugins keep their own copies of any skills they include. Your connectors stay connected so other plugins and sessions keep working. To disconnect a connector, open it from the **Installed** tab and select **Disconnect**. See [Find, install, and remove plugins](https://www.perplexity.ai/help-center/help-center/en/articles/2026100702-find-install-and-remove-plugins.md).
