Perplexity is retiring the organization file repository for Enterprise organizations. Files remaining in the repository after October 1, 2026 will be deleted.
Important: Download your organization files by October 1, 2026 to keep them. After downloading, add the files you want to continue using in Perplexity to a Project or use a supported File Connector.
Keep files your organization still needs before the organization file repository is retired.
Make shared reference files available to the appropriate people through a Project.
Use a File Connector when the source files already live in a supported cloud-storage service.
Confirm which files your organization needs to keep.
Make sure your role includes the Download files permission.
Decide whether the files should be added to a Project or accessed through a File Connector.
Confirm who should be able to access the files after they are moved.
Organization administrators should coordinate the migration. Other members can help if their role includes permission to download organization files or manage the destination Project.
Sign in to Perplexity on the web.
Open Settings, select Organization, then open Files.
Select Download your org files. Perplexity prepares a ZIP archive and downloads it when it is ready.
Open the archive and confirm the files are complete and readable.
Store the downloaded copy in an approved location until the migration is complete.
Important: Downloading the ZIP archive does not automatically add the files to a Project or connect them to Perplexity. Complete one of the following migration options if you want to continue using the files in Perplexity.
Create a Project or open an existing Project.
Open the Project's Files tab.
Upload the files you downloaded from the organization file repository.
Confirm that all required files appear in the Project.
Share the Project with the people who should be able to use the files.
Files added to a Project are copies and follow that Project's permissions and retention behavior. Updating a file outside Perplexity does not automatically update the Project copy.
If the source files already live in a supported cloud-storage service, connect that service instead of maintaining static copies. Supported File Connectors include Google Drive and Microsoft 365 (SharePoint and OneDrive).
Open Settings, then select Connectors.
Find the service you want to use and select the add (+) button.
Sign in to the service and review the requested permissions.
Return to Connectors and confirm that the service shows as connected.
File Connectors use the permissions of the connected account. A person can search or open only content their connected account is authorized to access. If you import a connector file into a Project, the imported file becomes a separate copy and follows the Project's permissions and retention behavior.
Use a Project for a shared, curated collection of files that should provide persistent context for a specific team or initiative.
Use a File Connector when files should remain in the source service and access should follow the connected account's permissions.
Use both when a team needs a stable Project copy of selected files while other content remains available through the connected service.
Open the downloaded ZIP archive and confirm every required file is readable.
Confirm that every required file is available in its new destination.
Check that the intended people can access the Project or connected service.
Ask a question about one of the moved files and confirm that the answer cites the expected content.
Keep the downloaded copy until your organization has confirmed that the migration is complete.
Files remaining in the organization file repository after October 1, 2026 will be deleted. Download every file your organization needs before the deadline.
No. Project files are separate from the organization file repository and continue to follow their Project's permissions and retention behavior.
No. Files remain in their source service. Their availability in Perplexity depends on the File Connector and the connected account's permissions.
