# Add Files to a Request and Find Generated Files

<h2 id="h_attach_a_file"><b>Attach a file</b></h2>

<p>Use the attachment control when you want Perplexity to read or analyze a copy of a file in the current request. Attaching a file does not make the original folder available to the app, and changes to the attached copy do not automatically update the original.</p>

<p>To edit the original file or save changes back into its location, select the containing folder instead of attaching a copy. Give the app access to a folder when you want Perplexity to work across several local files, edit the originals, or save new files back to that folder.</p>

<h2 id="h_find_a_generated_file"><b>Find a generated file</b></h2>

<p>When asking Perplexity to create a file, specify where it should be saved. For example:</p>

<p>Files that Perplexity generates are always available in <strong>Artifacts</strong>. You can also open the completed task to find the same files alongside the rest of the task result.</p>

<h2 id="h_if_a_file_cannot_be_attached_or_downloaded"><b>If a file cannot be attached or downloaded</b></h2>

    <p>Check whether the file type and size are supported.</p>

    <p>Confirm that the task finished creating the result.</p>

    <p>If the task saved the file locally, check the destination named in the request.</p>
