# Phone Verification for Your Account via SMS 2FA

> Perplexity may ask some users to verify their phone number before continuing to use the Perplexity app. This helps protect your accounts and adds an extra layer of security.

<p>If you’re asked to verify your phone number, you’ll be guided through a short verification process. After entering your number, you’ll receive a code by SMS. Enter that code on the verification page to continue using Perplexity apps.<br />​</p>

<p>A few things to know:</p>
