# Uploading Images on Perplexity

> Upload images to Perplexity to identify objects, interpret charts, or generate captions. See supported formats, size limits, and upload steps.

<p>Enhance your search experience by uploading an image to support your query. The image upload feature allows Perplexity to identify images, interpret graphics, or generate the perfect social media captions.</p>

<p>Click the Attach button when starting a new thread or simply drag and drop the image into the search bar.</p>

<p>Below the search bar, click the + icon. Select an image from your gallery or take a new photo.</p>

<p>JPEG, HEF, PNG, PDF.</p>

<p>Up to 40MB. Perplexity will reformat the image to meet necessary standards.</p>

<p>Images you attach or paste into a search count toward the same file upload allowance as other attachments. This allowance resets on a rolling weekly basis and is not currently displayed in your account settings. <p>Avoid uploading medical images, upside-down or rotated images, precise spatial locations, panoramic images, explicit content, and pictures of individuals.</p>

<p>If Perplexity can't read your image, make sure it's in a supported format and doesn't contain explicit content or identifiable individuals. Also, check your network connection. For ongoing issues, <a href="https://www.perplexity.ai/?support=true#settings/account" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">contact us via Help > Contact Support</a> with:</p>
