# Import data

<h2 id="h_5733af2224">Why is import an important step?</h2>

<p>Switching browsers should feel seamless — not like starting over.<br />​</p>

<p>Importing your data helps Comet instantly feel familiar: your bookmarks, passwords, and browsing history come with you, and the browser’s AI features start working smarter right away.</p>

<h2 id="h_0b8a22fb4e">How do I import my data into Comet?</h2>

<p>You can import your data at any time — or right during setup.<br />​</p>

<p>When you first open Comet, you’ll be asked if you’d like to bring your data from another browser. We recommend saying yes and importing everything — it’s the easiest way to make Comet personal right away.</p>

<p>You can also do it later:</p>

    <p>Go to <b>Settings → You and Comet → Import from another browser</b></p>
  </li>

  <li>
    <p>Or open the <b>Comet menu in the toolbar → Import from another browser</b></p>
  </li>
</ul>

<p>Comet will show a list of browsers detected on your device.<br />​</p>

<p>Choose one, pick what to import (bookmarks, passwords, cookies, history, extensions), and click <b>Import</b>.</p>

<p>Some browsers don’t support importing every type of data — you’ll see available options in the list.</p>

<p><i>Note that not every browser supports exporting all types of data, so the available options for import may vary.</i></p>
