# Assistant Panel

<h2 id="h_1eabf2e736">What is Comet Assistant?</h2>

<p><b>Assistant</b> is a Perplexity service that runs alongside your main browser window in a panel, giving you quick access to asking questions and executing tasks without interrupting your web flow.</p>

<h2 id="h_6cc30f97d4">Why is the Assistant valuable?</h2>

    <p><b>Instant help:</b> Assistant is always available — just open it when you want answers, summaries, or actions taken on the website.</p>
  </li>

  <li>
    <p><b>Multitask-friendly:</b> You can freely browse other pages while Assistant is doing the work. And run as many errands in parallel as you want.</p>
  </li>

  <li>
    <p><b>Stay focused:</b> No need to switch tabs or interrupt your workflow; keep your research or writing on one side and your assistant’s help on the other.</p>
  </li>

  <li>
    <p><b>Context-aware:</b> The Assistant can pull in the content from the tab you’re currently viewing, or any tab you mention with @. This lets you ask detailed or nuanced questions about it, get summaries, extract action items, and more.</p>

<p>It pulls in the visible text, headlines, and website metadata from your open page every time you submit a request.</p>
