# Keep Comet Browser Up-to-Date

<p>Keeping Comet up to date ensures you have the latest security fixes, performance improvements, and feature updates.</p>

<h2 id="h_d4d36c0355">How updates work</h2>

<p>Comet checks for updates automatically in the background and installs them once they’re available.<br />When a new version is ready, a small <b>Update</b> button will appear directly in the main browser toolbar — you can click it anytime to restart and apply the latest build.</p>

<h2 id="h_c33374748e">How to check for updates manually</h2>

<p>You can also manually check for updates:</p>

    <p>Open the menu (⋯) in the top-right corner.</p>
  </li>

  <li>
    <p>Go to <b>Help → About Comet</b>.</p>
  </li>

  <li>
    <p>Comet will automatically check for new versions and show your current build number.</p>
  </li>

    <p>If an update is available, click <b>Check for update</b> to install it.</p>
  </li>
</ol>

<p>Alternatively, you can open <b><code>comet://settings/help</code></b> directly to access the same page.</p>
