# Installing Comet

> Step-by-step guide to downloading and installing the Comet browser on Windows and Mac, with system requirements and troubleshooting tips for failed installs.

<h2 id="h_a3e6cafe94"><b>How to Install Comet (Windows & Mac)</b></h2>

<p>The following steps apply to both operating systems.</p>

<ul>
  <li>
    <p>Go to the Download <a href="https://www.perplexity.ai/download-comet" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">page</a></p>
  </li>

  <li>
    <p>Download the installer, it is compatible with whichever OS this is in.</p>
  </li>

  <li>
    <p>Run the downloaded installer file and follow the on-screen instructions.</p>
  </li>

  <li>
    <p>Allow the installer to make changes if prompted.</p>
  </li>

  <li>
    <p>Launch Comet after installation finishes. Sign in to your Perplexity account and create a profile, follow instructions as prompted.</p>
  </li>

  <li>
    <p>For browser import options, navigate to "Profile" or "Settings" within Comet to import data from another browser.</p>
  </li>
</ul>

<p><b>System Requirements for Comet</b></p>

<p>Please make sure you meet the system requirements for running Comet, if these are not met, we can't guarantee stable access to the browser.</p>

    <p>Supported operating systems: Windows 10 or later, macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later</p>
  </li>

  <li>
    <p>Processor: Intel, AMD, or Apple Silicon for Mac</p>
  </li>

  <li>
    <p>At least 4 GB of RAM (8 GB recommended for best performance)</p>
  </li>

  <li>
    <p>500 MB of available disk space</p>
  </li>

  <li>
    <p>Stable internet connection required for installation and ongoing updates</p>
  </li>

  <li>
    <p>Latest versions of graphics and network drivers recommended</p>
  </li>
</ul>

<p><b>Troubleshooting tips:</b></p>

<ul>
  <li>
    <p>If installation fails, make sure your device meets all minimum system requirements and has the latest OS updates installed.</p>
  </li>

  <li>
    <p>Temporarily disable antivirus or firewall if it’s blocking the installer.</p>
  </li>

  <li>
    <p>Restart your computer and try the installation again.</p>
  </li>
