Perplexity's Campus Partners Program Terms & Conditions
Last Updated August 7th, 2025
1. Overview and Eligibility
- The Perplexity Campus Partners Program (“Program”) enables eligible students to earn monetary rewards (“Payouts”) by promoting Perplexity and undertaking specified activities, as further described herein.
- By applying for the Campus Partners Program, you agree to comply with these Terms between You and Perplexity.
- The program is open to enrolled college and university students who have been accepted by Perplexity.
- Users must be at least 13 years old; minors must have parental consent.
- Participation is voluntary and does not create an employment relationship.
- Participants (“Campus Partners”) act as independent promoters, not agents, representatives, or employees of Perplexity.
- Perplexity reserves the right to accept, remove, or decline any applicant or Campus Partner from the Program at any time, for any reason or no reason, at its sole discretion.
2. Roles & Responsibilities
- Campus Partners are responsible for completing specific activities—like referring new users, creating Spaces, or participating in events—as outlined by Perplexity. When these tasks are successfully completed and verified, Campus Partners receive cash rewards.
- Campus Partners are expected to:
- Act with honesty, integrity, and professionalism at all times while representing Perplexity.
- Only promote Perplexity in ways consistent with Brand Guidelines and product truth.
- Avoid sharing or incentivizing the upload of any copyrighted, proprietary, or third-party material without authorization.
- Report and refrain from any fraudulent, deceptive, or unlawful behavior related to the Program.
- Campus Partners may be asked to participate in events, class demos, or create content (ex: uploading eligible non-infringing materials to Spaces).
3. Payouts and Activities
- Campus Partners will be eligible for payouts for specified activities, as communicated by Perplexity (e.g., signups, Space creation, public events).
- Perplexity reserves the right to verify activity and deny payment in cases of fraud, ineligibility, or noncompliance.
- Rewards will only be paid on eligible, verified activity as determined by Perplexity. If a payout is later found to be fraudulent, refunded, or in violation of these terms, Perplexity may withhold or claw back payment.
- Perplexity may change payout rates, terms, or rules at any time, with or without notice.
- There may be a maximum cap on rewards per participant, to be set by Perplexity.
4. Use of Name, Image, and Likeness
Perplexity gives Campus Partners permission to use our content and brand materials—like our name, logo, and trademarks—only to promote Perplexity as part of this Program. This permission is limited, can be taken back at any time, and cannot be transferred or shared with others. Campus Partners must always follow our Brand Guidelines whenever our content or branding is used.
By participating, Campus Partners grant Perplexity permission to use their name, school, and photographs in connection with Program publicity and marketing, without additional compensation.
5. Prohibited Promotional Activities
Campus Partners are strictly prohibited from:
- Promoting direct competitors during participation.
- Sending unsolicited bulk messages (“spam”) via email, social media, SMS, instant message, or any messaging platform in connection with the Program. All outreach must comply with applicable law (e.g., CAN-SPAM Act, campus regulations, and platform-specific requirements).
- Impersonating any person or entity, or misrepresenting affiliation with Perplexity or any other group.
- Publishing or promoting Perplexity using content or placements that are misleading, false, or violate any applicable law or regulation.
- Posting Program links or offers to coupon, deal, or rebate sites unless explicitly approved by Perplexity.
- Using Perplexity branding, logos, or trademarks except as expressly permitted in the Brand Guidelines. Perplexity owns the brand materials and content created may be used by Perplexity for promotional purposes.
- Offering incentives (monetary or otherwise) for sign-ups or engagement unless explicitly authorized by Perplexity.
- Using bots, automated scripts, or any software to generate signups or engagement.
- Posting links or offers on websites you do not own or control, unless approved by Perplexity.
- Self-referral: using your own link to sign yourself up or benefit personally from your promotional activities.
- Purchasing ads or create social handles/accounts, paid search, or social ads using Perplexity's name or Perplexity-related terms, nor claiming to represent Perplexity except as expressly permitted.
- Registering domains or accounts using Perplexity’s names or trademarks, or altering/adapting Perplexity-provided promotional materials.
- Cookie stuffing or installing pop-ups that force clicks on promotional links.
- Campus Partners agree not to make public statements about Perplexity that are knowingly false or could harm Perplexity’s brand or reputation.
6. Disclosure and Compliance
When posting about Perplexity or the Program, Campus Partners must always comply with FTC guidelines regarding disclosure and transparency (e.g., using “#ad” or “#affiliate” disclosures where required).
Compliance with all campus, legal, and social media platform rules is mandatory.
7. Confidentiality
Campus Partners may not disclose any nonpublic information about Perplexity, Program terms, or related business operations unless specifically authorized.
8. Payment Platform & Taxes
Payments are managed by Dub Technologies Inc (“Dub”). Campus Partners are responsible for providing required tax information and complying with any tax reporting obligations. To earn rewards, Campus Partners must use the unique links or codes provided by Perplexity. Only activity tracked through Dub will count toward rewards. Perplexity is not responsible for misattribution, technical errors, or failures on third-party platforms.
9. Code of Conduct and Removal
- Campus Partners must conduct themselves respectfully and professionally in all interactions, both online and offline.
- The following are grounds for immediate removal from the Program:
- Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination targeting any individual or group.
- Sharing, encouraging, or condoning the uploading or public sharing of proprietary, copyrighted, or restricted academic materials.
- Any form of academic dishonesty, fraud, or misrepresentation.
- Public or private conduct damaging to Perplexity’s brand or community, including abuse of community resources for personal gain.
- Violation of these Terms, or any applicable law, regulation, or institutional policy.
- Underperformance or lack of program participation, as determined at Perplexity’s discretion. Perplexity may review how and where Campus Partners promote the Program upon request.
- Perplexity reserves the right to withhold payouts and terminate participation with or without notice for any breach of these terms.
10. Reporting Violations
- Anyone may report suspected violations to Perplexity. The team will investigate promptly and respond as appropriate.
11. General Terms
- These Terms shall be governed by the laws of California.
- Perplexity may update, suspend, or terminate the Program or these Terms at any time. If changes are made, continued participation means you accept the new terms.
- Participation and rewards in the Program cannot be transferred or assigned to anyone else without Perplexity’s written consent.
- These Perplexity Campus Partners Program Terms supplement, and do not replace, Perplexity’s standard Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. In case of conflict, the Perplexity Campus Partners Program Terms govern Program participation.
- You may not assign or transfer your participation or any rights under this Program without Perplexity’s written consent.
- If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remainder will still apply.
- If Perplexity does not enforce a term, it does not waive this right for the future.
12. Disclaimers, Limits on Liability, Indemnification, and Dispute Resolution
- TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, (A) PERPLEXITY WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES HOWEVER ARISING WHETHER OR NOT PERPLEXITY WAS AWARE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF THOSE DAMAGES AND DESPITE THE FAILURE OF ESSENTIAL PURPOSE OF ANY LIMITED REMEDY STATED IN THESE TERMS; AND (B) PERPLEXITY’S LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (i) THE AMOUNT ACTUALLY PAID OR PAYABLE TO YOU UNDER THESE TERMS FOR THE APPLICABLE PROGRAM IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRIOR TO WHEN THE CLAIM AROSE; or (ii) $500 USD.
- Perplexity does not take responsibility for content created, posted, sent, or received by you, other users, or third parties.
- By using the Program, you agree to protect and hold harmless Perplexity and its team against any costs, losses, or damages (including legal fees) that result from:
- Breaking these Terms or the law;
- Violating someone else’s rights;
- Misusing the services;
- Content you provide; or
- Careless or intentional harmful behavior.
- If this happens, Perplexity has the right to handle the defense and any decisions about settlements, and you agree to cooperate fully.
- If you ever have a disagreement with Perplexity about the Program: you and Perplexity agree to try to solve it informally first. Send an email to support@perplexity.ai, and we’ll do our best to resolve the issue within 30 days. If things still aren’t resolved:
- Any remaining disagreement will be handled through binding arbitration, not in court or in front of a jury, and not as part of any group lawsuit. By joining, you give up your right to participate in any class or group lawsuits against Perplexity related to this Program.
- Arbitration will be held under the rules of JAMS, in English, with one arbitrator.
- Both you and Perplexity waive the right to participate in a class action or class arbitration—you can only bring claims as yourself, not as part of a group.
- You or Perplexity can still bring certain small claims, ask for court orders (like stopping certain behavior), or bring intellectual property claims in court instead of arbitration.
- We’ll follow all rules for who pays the costs, but if arbitration would cost you more than court, Perplexity will step in to cover some fees where necessary.
- If you don’t want to be bound by this arbitration agreement, you must email support@perplexity.ai or send written notice to our U.S. address within 30 days of first agreeing to these Terms. If you opt out of arbitration, you also opt out of the class action waiver (and vice versa).
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, both you and Perplexity agree that all disputes must be brought individually, not as part of any class, group, or representative action.
